Embedded Software Engineer – Camera ISP

About the role

Apple's Camera ISP team is seeking an embedded software engineer to develop low‑level systems that power camera experiences across iPhone, iPad, Mac and other Apple products. You will work at the intersection of hardware and software, delivering high‑performance, reliable imaging features.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement low‑level drivers and system software for sophisticated ISP pipelines on Apple SoCs.
• Develop camera features across the full software stack, from firmware and kernel drivers to user‑space frameworks.
• Collaborate with silicon design, camera hardware, media frameworks and QA teams to define specifications and communication protocols.
• Support hardware validation, factory testing and manufacturing diagnostics to ensure product quality at scale.
• Develop system software for secure sensor subsystems such as Face ID and Optic ID.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of experience in embedded or systems software development.
• Self‑directed, adaptable and comfortable navigating ambiguity in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in C and C++.
• Experience developing real‑time software for embedded systems.
• Knowledge of firmware, kernel driver and user‑space development.
• Familiarity with image signal processing (ISP) pipelines or camera systems.
• Experience with macOS or iOS driver and kernel‑level development.
