Energy Trading Analyst

About the role

We are seeking an Energy Trading Analyst to support our futures and derivatives trading activities across the Asian oil market. You will be responsible for reconciling trading data, handling daily settlements, and providing analytical insights to the trading team and management.

Key responsibilities

• Reconcile and verify trading data for futures, options, and related derivatives, including trade executions, positions, prices, fees, margins, P&L, and settlement statements.
• Handle daily settlement, valuation, and return calculations of futures accounts, ensuring consistency between trading systems, broker statements, and internal reports.
• Monitor changes in futures and derivatives positions and compile key trading information such as exposures, expiry dates, settlement prices, and options exercises.
• Prepare statistics on trading P&L, unrealized and realized P&L, margin utilization, and fund movements.
• Liaise with Trading, Finance, Risk Management, Operations teams and futures brokers to resolve settlement discrepancies and data exceptions.
• Produce regular futures trading and settlement reports, conduct data analysis and verification, and recommend process improvements.
• Analyze the Asian oil market (crude, middle distillates, gasoline, fuel oil), perform basic ship‑tracking, daily macro updates, and independent analytics.
• Participate in traders' meetings to share findings and contribute to commercial modelling for new trade ideas.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics or related fields.
• 1–2 years of experience in futures settlement, trading operations, financial accounting, risk management middle office, or related functions.
• Familiarity with basic futures trading and settlement concepts, including margin, positions, and transaction fees.
• Strong numerical aptitude, excellent data reconciliation, logical analysis, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Meticulous, detail‑oriented, and able to work under time‑sensitive, accuracy‑driven conditions.
• Intellectual curiosity and passion for energy markets, with good communication skills.
