Environmental & Sustainable Design Engineer, ESD

About the role

Ramboll is hiring a Senior Sustainable Design Strategist / Environmental Engineer to join its Buildings department in Singapore. You will play a key role in growing the Environmental & Sustainable Design (ESD) team and support and lead projects across multiple sectors in Asia, helping expand the client portfolio and the delivery of sustainable design solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and oversight of ESD projects from early concept design through to completion.
• Lead sustainability strategies for high-performance buildings, including passive design, active systems integration, low-carbon design and climate-responsive solutions.
• Advise on green building certifications such as Green Mark, LEED and WELL.
• Guide the team in building performance analysis, including energy modelling, thermal comfort studies, daylight and solar analysis and environmental simulations.
• Work with architects, MEP engineers, civil engineers and construction teams to integrate sustainable design into practical, buildable solutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in sustainable design, ESD consultancy, green building certification or building performance analysis.
• Proven track record of supporting or leading projects from concept to completion; construction and regional project experience is an advantage.
• Interest or experience in business development, proposal preparation and networking.

Required skills

• Understanding of green building systems, passive and active design, low-carbon and climate-responsive design.
• Familiarity with tools such as Rhino, Grasshopper, SketchUp and energy or environmental simulation software.
• Experience with Green Mark, LEED or equivalent certification frameworks.
• Plus: familiarity with coding/scripting tools and generative AI platforms.
