Equipment Engineering Manager

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking an Equipment Engineering Manager to lead equipment performance, reliability and operational excellence across Dry Etch, CVD and PVD platforms in a high‑volume semiconductor fab. The role combines deep technical expertise with hands‑on leadership of engineers and technicians to ensure equipment uptime and manufacturing success.

Key responsibilities

• Own equipment performance, availability, uptime and reliability metrics for Dry Etch, CVD and PVD toolsets.
• Drive root‑cause analysis of equipment failures, implement corrective and preventive actions, and develop preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
• Collaborate with process engineering to translate process requirements into equipment solutions and troubleshoot process‑related equipment issues.
• Lead, mentor and develop a team of equipment engineers and technicians, managing shift coverage, training plans and performance.
• Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives, monitor KPIs such as MTBF, MTTR, PM compliance and champion 6S and EHS compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of semiconductor equipment experience, including team lead or technician supervision.
• Strong technical expertise in at least one of Dry Etch, CVD or PVD (Sputter Deposition) platforms.
• Proven experience in equipment installation, qualification, troubleshooting, maintenance and reliability engineering.
• Experience leading engineering/technician teams, workforce planning and skill development.
• Proficiency with RCA, SPC, FMEA and data‑driven problem‑solving techniques.

• Dry Etch, CVD and PVD (Sputter Deposition) equipment knowledge.
• Equipment installation, qualification and troubleshooting.
• Maintenance and reliability engineering.
• Root‑cause analysis (RCA), statistical process control (SPC) and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA).
• Data‑driven problem solving and equipment health monitoring.
• Understanding of high‑volume semiconductor fab operations.
