Executive / Senior Executive – Teaching Laboratory

About the role

The School of Biological Sciences at Nanyang Technological University seeks an Executive / Senior Executive to oversee the planning, preparation, and smooth operation of undergraduate teaching laboratories. This position ensures that practical sessions run safely, efficiently, and align with curriculum requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate with course coordinators to define practical requirements, schedules, and safety protocols.
• Prepare reagents, consumables, specimens, and equipment for each laboratory session.
• Set up, calibrate, and relocate laboratory equipment as needed.
• Brief Teaching Assistants on procedures, protocols, and safety standards.
• Provide technical and safety support to students during practical work.
• Conduct trial runs of new protocols, troubleshoot issues, and ensure reproducibility.
• Assist in budgeting, procurement, and inventory management of laboratory supplies.
• Maintain laboratory cleanliness, perform routine equipment checks, and coordinate maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with chemical storage, waste disposal, and university safety regulations.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in managing teaching laboratories or similar scientific facilities.
• Strong understanding of laboratory safety, chemical handling, and biosafety standards.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with academic staff and students.
