External Communications Manager

About the role

The External Communications Manager will partner with the Team Lead of External and Digital Communications to raise SPH Media’s visibility, reputation, and stakeholder engagement. The role shapes narratives, manages media relations, and delivers high‑quality external communications that align with the organisation’s brand and strategic priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary contact for media queries, interviews, and story development; prepare media invites, releases, Q&As, and statements to drive publicity.
• Develop and execute communication strategies for major announcements, events, partnerships, and public‑facing campaigns, ensuring consistent messaging across all external‑facing materials.
• Support issues management and crisis communications by creating escalation protocols, holding statements, and rapid‑response communications during high‑impact situations.
• Produce clear, audience‑relevant content, collaborate with creative and digital teams for integrated storytelling, and shape leadership messaging and corporate narratives.
• Track and analyse media coverage, campaign performance, and stakeholder feedback to provide insights and continuously improve communication strategies.

Required profile

• Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related discipline.
• 5–8 years of experience in external communications, public relations, or media‑facing roles, preferably within the media, corporate, or public sector.
• Strong understanding of Singapore’s media landscape and familiarity with newsroom environments.
• Excellent spoken and written English; proficiency in a second language is an advantage.
