Finance Data Analyst Intern (Jan–May 2027)

About the role

We are looking for a Data Analyst Intern to join our finance data team and ensure the accuracy of the numbers that drive our financial reporting. You will work on real production data, reconciling figures, investigating discrepancies and automating manual checks.

Key responsibilities

• Check that our financial numbers are correct.
• Reconcile financial figures against independent sources and explain any differences.
• Investigate reports that appear wrong and determine whether they truly are.
• Trace a number back to its origin.
• Automate manual checks and turn weekly hand‑run processes into scheduled, reliable jobs.
• Write SQL and Python scripts to pull, compare and validate financial data.
• Make missing data visible rather than silent.
• Build and maintain dashboards that Finance uses to monitor performance.
• Document dataset meanings and exclusions for future users.

Required profile

• No professional experience needed; we care about how you think and work.
• Currently studying or recently graduated in a numerate field such as data, statistics, finance, accounting, computer science or engineering.
• Experience writing SQL queries with joins and aggregations.
• Some Python experience for analysis or automation.
• Careful with numbers and diligent in checking your own output.
• Comfortable saying “I don’t know” rather than giving a confident wrong answer.
• Curious about why a number is what it is, not just what it is.
• Clear written communication for explaining discrepancies to non‑technical stakeholders.
