Financial Controller - Fintech Payments

About the role

A high-growth fintech company providing integrated payment solutions across the Asia-Pacific region is looking for a Financial Controller. The role leads the entire finance function of a rapidly scaling payments business, combining hands-on financial control with strategic business partnering, and works from home or hybrid.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of financial control, including month-end close, group reporting and statutory accounting across multiple entities.
• Manage merchant settlement, payment reconciliations and financial controls in high-volume transaction environments.
• Oversee safeguarding processes, regulatory reporting and compliance across regulated jurisdictions.
• Act as primary contact for external auditors, tax advisors and corporate service providers.
• Partner with senior leadership on profitability, pricing, unit economics and business performance.
• Drive process improvements, automation and finance transformation projects.
• Lead, mentor and develop a small finance operations team.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (CA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent).
• 6+ years of finance experience, ideally with Big 4 audit and commercial experience in payments.
• Proven ownership of full financial close and statutory audits.
• Experience managing multi-entity accounting across jurisdictions.
• Prior team leadership or people management experience.
• Experience in fintech, payments or regulated industries is highly advantageous.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of financial controls, reconciliations, reporting and compliance.
• Understanding of safeguarding, merchant settlement and payment operations is beneficial.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
