Full‑Stack Ruby on Rails Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a full‑stack Ruby on Rails Engineer to build production‑ready software that powers Grain’s delightful customer experiences. You will work closely with product and engineering teams to ensure performance, reliability and scalability of our backend services.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Ruby on Rails applications, GCP deployments and Cloudflare workers.
• Write clean, well‑tested code using RSpec and ensure high test coverage.
• Profile applications, identify performance bottlenecks and implement optimisations.
• Design and document scalable system architectures and APIs, including GraphQL.
• Lead engineering standards, conduct code reviews, pair programming and mentor junior members.
• Own technical hiring processes and contribute to team culture.

Required profile

• Strong proficiency in Ruby and the Ruby on Rails framework.
• Experience writing unit and integration tests with RSpec.
• Solid knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript for front‑end work.
• Hands‑on experience with PostgreSQL and writing SQL queries.
• Familiarity with command‑line tools such as Zsh, Vim and Tmux.
• Understanding of serverless deployment, scaling and security concepts.
