Fundamental Research Associate, Hardware and Semiconductors

About the role

Capital Group is hiring a Fundamental Research Associate within its Asia Tech (Hardware and Semiconductors) team in Singapore. The associate works on complex research projects and workflows, combining technical financial analysis with clear communication of investment findings.

Key responsibilities

• Apply a strong foundation in financial modeling, valuation and analysis across many business scenarios, integrating industry context into analyses
• Gather, analyze and synthesize data from multiple sources, identifying key industry and macro trends and linking them to company fundamentals
• Evaluate risk/reward, flag inflection points and deliver concise, fact-based investment write-ups
• Communicate findings clearly, frame arguments in terms of risk/reward and investment impact, and summarize research in meetings and writing
• Work independently, prioritizing competing demands and anticipating stakeholder needs
• Collaborate with partner teams such as QRA, CSR and technology teams, and share ownership of research priorities
• Develop data skills such as using AI and LLMs, automating workflows, building Python and SQL, and visualizing results with Power BI or Tableau

Required profile

• 2-5 years of relevant research experience in financial services
• Experience in tech, hardware and semiconductors is a plus
• Intellectual curiosity and strong analytical skills for problems of moderate complexity
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines

Required skills

• Financial statements, accounting principles, valuation techniques and macroeconomic concepts
• Traditional investment research tools such as Excel
• Market data services such as AlphaSense, CapIQ and FactSet
• Effective written and oral communication
