Graduate Software Engineer – Entry Level

About the role

Join HCL Singapore as a Graduate Software Engineer where you will focus on Oracle database administration. You will help ensure system availability, performance, and reliability while collaborating with support and development teams.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor Oracle database event alerts and notify relevant teams for escalation.
• Track database availability, instance uptime, disk and file‑system space.
• Analyze Oracle alert, transaction and backup logs to identify and resolve issues.
• Respond to database‑related inquiries from application support and development teams.
• Monitor backup processes, handle recovery errors and execute restoration requests.
• Detect performance issues such as high CPU/memory usage, application bottlenecks and perform query tuning.
• Process requests for database start/stop, user creation and data access rights.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
• Knowledge of infrastructure monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog, Dynatrace) and willingness to learn new technologies.
• Experience monitoring database events, availability, performance and storage usage.
• Familiarity with Oracle alert logs, transaction logs and backup logs.
• Basic understanding of backup and recovery processes and tools.
