Head of Asia South Core Trade Franchise (Documentary Trade)

About the role

Citi is hiring a Director for the Head of Asia South Core Trade Franchise (Documentary Trade) in Singapore. The Core Trade organization covers documentary trade products such as Letters of Credit, Standby Letters of Credit, Guarantees and Documentary Collections. The role drives growth, commercialization, product stewardship and strategic development of the Core Trade business across the Asia South cluster, leads a team of product professionals and reports to the Global Head of Core Trade Network and Productivity.

Key responsibilities

• Drive franchise performance, including revenues, wallet growth, client penetration, market share and return on allocated resources, and lead the Asia South Core Trade team.
• Define and execute the Core Trade strategy, grow the portfolio and identify emerging market opportunities.
• Own commercialization of Core Trade products, act as senior product advisor for complex deals and coordinate product lifecycle with global product teams.
• Partner with Sales, Banking, Operations, Risk, Technology and other functions, and represent Core Trade in client meetings, industry events and regulatory discussions.
• Ensure product governance, risk management and compliance with policies and regulations.
• Recruit, coach and mentor product talent, and champion simplification, digitization and scalable operating models.

Required profile

• 15+ years of experience in Trade Finance, Transaction Banking, Product Management or related fields.
• Extensive experience in documentary trade products (Letters of Credit, Guarantees, Standby Letters of Credit, Collections).
• Proven track record of product growth and revenue generation across multiple markets.
• Leadership experience in a complex, matrixed organization and across regional or global businesses.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; Master's degree good to have.

Required skills

• Deep expertise in documentary trade products and trade finance structures.
• Strong commercial orientation, strategic thinking and stakeholder management.
• Understanding of risk, controls, governance and regulatory requirements.
• Experience leading transformation, digitization and process simplification initiatives is highly desirable.
