High School English Teacher (A & B)

About the role

UWCSEA East is seeking a dedicated High School English Teacher to deliver English A (first language) and potentially English B (additional language) from August 2027. The role involves teaching IB Diploma courses, contributing to a vibrant multicultural community, and supporting students’ academic and personal growth.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with English and broader High School teams to foster a positive learning culture.
• Design and deliver concept‑based lessons that challenge students and accommodate diverse learning needs.
• Develop and administer formative and summative assessments, providing timely, constructive feedback.
• Maintain effective classroom management that addresses academic, social, and emotional dimensions.
• Communicate proactively with parents about student progress.
• Uphold UWCSEA Professional and Safeguarding Codes of Conduct and Teacher Standards.
• Participate in the five pillars of UWCSEA education: Academics, Activities, Outdoor Education, Personal & Social Education, and Service.
• Lead a mentor group and contribute to extracurricular activities or service (approximately two sessions per week).

Required profile

• Degree in English (Literature or Language) and a recognized teaching qualification/licence.
• Proven experience teaching IB Diploma English A (Literature or Language & Literature).
• Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and adapting pedagogy to varied learners.
• Enthusiasm for teaching in a multicultural environment and a collaborative approach.
• Willingness to engage in professional learning and pastoral responsibilities.
