HSE Officer – Maritime Operations

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated HSE Officer to lead Health, Safety and Environmental compliance across maritime and offshore operations. The successful candidate will develop and maintain HSE management systems, conduct risk assessments and drive a strong safety culture on‑shore and on‑board vessels.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain the company’s HSE Management System in line with maritime standards such as ISM, SOLAS and MARPOL.
• Conduct Job Safety Analyses, risk assessments and regular HSE audits for shipboard, shipyard and offshore activities.
• Manage permit‑to‑work, hot work, confined space entry, working at heights and hazardous material handling procedures.
• Lead incident investigations, produce root‑cause analyses and oversee corrective‑preventive action plans.
• Prepare KPI reports, maintain HSE logs and present safety performance to senior management.
• Deliver HSE inductions, toolbox talks, emergency drills and promote a “Safety‑First” culture among crew and shore staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Marine Engineering, Health & Safety, Environmental Science or related field.
• 3–5 years of HSE experience in shipping, oil & gas or marine engineering, with hands‑on vessel or offshore project exposure.
• Familiarity with international regulations (ISM, ISPS, SOLAS, MARPOL, MLC) and regional bodies such as MOM.
• Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, ISO 45001/14001 Lead Auditor, STCW, BOSIET/OPITO are highly advantageous.

Required skills

• Root‑cause analysis techniques (5‑Whys, Fishbone, TapRooT).
• Risk assessment and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) execution.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite and digital HSE management software/databases.
• Strong knowledge of permit‑to‑work systems and hazardous material handling.
