HVAC Design Manager

About the role

Johnson Controls is looking for an HVAC Design Manager to manage assigned projects within its HVAC portfolio. As project manager, you will plan, execute and complete medium-complexity projects, coordinating with sales, customers and contractors while ensuring profitable execution, project integrity and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and review detailed engineering drawings, schematics and equipment specifications.
• Perform HVAC load calculations, hydraulic calculations, pump head calculations, pipe sizing and chilled water/condensate water system design.
• Prepare technical proposals, bills of materials, equipment selections and tender documentation.
• Ensure designs comply with ASHRAE standards, local building codes and corporate engineering guidelines.
• Coordinate with internal teams (sales, project management, solutions engineering) to support pre-sales and project execution.
• Review and validate designs from consultants, contractors and partners, and mentor junior engineers.
• Conduct site assessments, attend technical meetings, support design reviews, troubleshooting and commissioning of HVAC and hydronic systems, and meet with clients to define mechanical requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 7-10 years of experience in HVAC system design, including chilled water or condenser system design.
• Experience delivering medium to large-scale commercial or industrial projects.
• Professional certification (SCEM, LEED AP) is an advantage.

Required skills

• Hands-on proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with hydraulic calculations and spreadsheet-based pump head computations.
• Knowledge of ASHRAE, ISO and local mechanical codes.
• Strong documentation, communication and coordination skills.
