Internal Audit Manager

About the role

The Internal Audit Manager will lead risk‑based audit activities across the Town Council, ensuring that controls are effective, efficient and compliant with statutory requirements. You will work closely with internal teams and external auditors to safeguard assets and support governance.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct detailed risk assessments and identify existing controls.
• Perform audit procedures, including testing and interviews, to verify control operation.
• Analyse audit findings, highlight control gaps and recommend improvements.
• Track and follow‑up audit issues to timely closure.
• Document audit results and support year‑end external financial audits.
• Enhance internal audit standards and ensure compliance with the Town Councils Act, Financial Rules and Corporate Governance regulations.
• Provide assistance to the Audit Committee as required.

Required profile

• Diploma in Accounting, Finance or Business.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in internal or external audit.
• Strong analytical, communication and coordination abilities.
• Familiarity with Corporate Governance regulations and statutory requirements relevant to Town Councils.
