IT Data Governance Officer (ITE HQ)

About the role

ITE is hiring an IT Data Governance Officer to join its IT Governance and Security team at the ITE headquarters. You will support data governance, compliance and risk management, working closely with the Chief Data Officer (CDO), Business Owners and Data Owners to strengthen data accountability, governance maturity and data stewardship.

Key responsibilities

• Support the CDO on data governance and compliance for the IM8 data domain and Whole-of-Government (WOG) policies and standards, including clarifying data classification and governance issues with GDD/SNDGO where applicable.
• Help identify, assign and communicate Business Owners and Data Owners for key data domains and systems.
• Support value-risk assessments, give guidance and develop learning materials for the CDO team, Business Owners and Data Owners; review and validate Line 1 assessments and support complex ones needing Line 2 guidance.
• Administer the Data Administration Group, prepare agendas, document decisions and track actions.
• Maintain records of governance decisions, escalations, action items and compliance evidence for management reporting and audit readiness.
• Monitor data usage risks, compliance metrics and key risk indicators, updating management periodically.
• Disseminate governance updates and support monthly staff inductions on data management.
• Lead or coordinate the annual review of the Data Security Risk Assessment for critical systems, and support IM8 audits, internal audits and WOG reviews, including evidence preparation and follow-up on findings.
• Review and update data governance policies, practices, templates and guidance based on emerging risks, regulatory changes and audit lessons.

Required profile

• Suitable academic or professional credentials in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
• Minimum 2 to 5 years of experience in governance, risk, compliance, audit, data management, cybersecurity or related functions.
• Knowledge of data classification, data protection, information security or data lifecycle management concepts.
• Familiarity with IM8, WOG policies, data governance frameworks and risk management practices.
• Leadership qualities, good collaboration skills, and strong verbal and written communication.
• Diligent, resourceful, able to multitask, meticulous in planning and tracking.

Required skills

• Data management and audit certifications such as CDMP, DCAM or CISA equivalent are an advantage.
• Familiarity with tendering procedures, ICT Security Standards in the Singapore Public Service and managing IT budgets is an advantage.
