Java Backend Developer - Banking / Fintech

About the role

Fuku is hiring a Java Backend Developer for a banking and fintech project in Singapore. The position is a contract role that can be extended, requires at least 6 years of experience and banking experience, which is mandatory.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain high-performance Java-based backend applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design and ship new features.
• Ensure the best possible performance, quality and responsiveness of applications.
• Identify bottlenecks and bugs and devise solutions.
• Maintain code quality, organisation and automation.
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and apply them to improve existing systems.
• Analyse, design, code and implement complex, custom-built applications, translating business and system requirements into scalable, stable technical solutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Java Backend Developer or similar role; minimum 6 years of experience.
• Banking experience is a must.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Strong Java proficiency and good-to-have React experience.
• Frameworks such as Spring or Hibernate.
• RESTful APIs and web services.
• Git and other code versioning tools.
• Development and delivery with Java, EJB, Spring Boot, MySQL, Oracle and IBM MQ, Kafka.
