Lecturer / Senior Lecturer – Academic Development (Engineering)

About the role

The School of Engineering is seeking a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Academic Development to design, develop and deliver curricula in applied Statistics, Electronics, Design Thinking, Business Innovation and entrepreneurship.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and deliver applied Statistics, Electronics, Design Thinking, Business Innovation and entrepreneurship curricula to students.
• Work collaboratively in teams to foster a culture of innovation and develop entrepreneurship programmes.
• Lead or represent the school in committees such as in‑reach, out‑reach, academic operations and student development.
• Identify and spearhead new opportunities, initiatives and collaborations with industry partners.
• Plan, lead, manage and undertake projects or co‑developed training courses with internal and external stakeholders.
• Plan, develop and deliver Continuing Education and Training (CET) programmes for adult learners and industry partners.
• Conduct and contribute to research efforts in teaching and learning.
• Perform academic, administrative and other related duties as assigned.
• Mentor and guide students in both academic and personal development.

Required profile

• A recognised tertiary qualification in Engineering or Statistics.
• At least 2 years of relevant work or industrial experience in a related field.
• Knowledge and experience in designing and developing curricula in applied Statistics, Electronics, Design Thinking, Business Innovation and entrepreneurship.
• Pedagogical expertise and effective teaching/assessment practices, including design thinking and project‑based learning.
• Good IT skills and competency in working with online learning platforms and educational technology.
• Proficiency in Excel for data analysis, reporting and instructional support.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to meet deadlines and multitask.
• Familiarity with blended learning, tech‑enabled teaching tools, design thinking, entrepreneurship and project‑based learning is advantageous.
