Lecturer – Social Innovation, Design Thinking & Interdisciplinary Projects

About the role

This is a two‑year fixed‑term position as Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Social Innovation, Design Thinking and Interdisciplinary Projects within the School of Humanities & Interdisciplinary Studies. The role involves developing curricula, delivering courses and guiding project‑based learning for both youth and adult learners.

Key responsibilities

• Design and update curricula covering social sustainability, design thinking (including LUMA recipes), and multidisciplinary industry‑based projects.
• Deliver face‑to‑face and online classes, supervise student projects, and facilitate workshops on complex problem solving, research, ideation and prototyping.
• Teach at least one evening or weekend session and lead overseas student trips.
• Identify and develop collaborations with industry partners, government agencies, social enterprises, community organisations and higher‑education institutions.
• Stay current with developments in social innovation, human‑centred design and interdisciplinary learning.
• Manage administrative tasks related to teaching and project coordination.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Design, Social Sciences, Humanities, Business or an equivalent field.
• Strong understanding of social innovation concepts and hands‑on experience in social enterprise, non‑profit management or social‑impact consulting (preferred).
• Proven ability to apply innovative pedagogical approaches and adopt multidisciplinary perspectives.
• Experience engaging with industry stakeholders, social enterprises, community organisations or government agencies (highly desirable).
• Agile team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong project and time‑management abilities with attention to detail.
