Legal Counsel

About the role

OPay is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join its fast‑growing fintech team. You will provide comprehensive legal support across the company’s operations, helping to mitigate risk and ensure compliance in a dynamic, technology‑driven environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and services to all business units, proactively identifying and preventing legal risks.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts in both Chinese and English, including partnership, service, and vendor agreements.
• Manage litigation matters involving the company, coordinating with external counsel as needed.
• Support front‑to‑back risk‑control processes, delivering professional opinions to business departments.
• Assist senior leadership with ad‑hoc legal projects and other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Law.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant legal experience, preferably within the internet or fintech industry.
• Native fluency in Mandarin and English, with the ability to communicate effectively with bilingual stakeholders.
• Successful completion of the local legal professional qualification examination.
• Strong judgment, logical analysis, and coordination skills.
• Positive, proactive attitude and a collaborative team spirit.
