Linux Administrator – VMware Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a Linux Administrator with deep VMware expertise to manage and optimise our RHEL and virtualised environments in Singapore. The role involves day‑to‑day operations, automation and collaboration with application and DevOps teams.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure and administer Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers in production and non‑production environments.
• Manage VMware vSphere infrastructure, including ESXi hosts, vCenter clusters, resource pools and virtual networking.
• Perform system monitoring, performance tuning and capacity planning for Linux and VMware platforms.
• Implement security hardening, patching and compliance standards (CIS, STIG, internal controls).
• Troubleshoot hardware, OS, virtualization, networking and storage issues, including application‑to‑database connectivity problems.
• Manage storage tasks such as LVM configuration, disk partitioning, volume expansion and mount‑point restructuring.
• Automate operational tasks using Bash, Python, Perl or Ansible.
• Maintain backup, snapshot and disaster‑recovery strategies for both Unix/Linux and VMware environments.
• Partner with application, database and DevOps teams to support deployments, upgrades and system migrations.
• Document architecture, configurations, SOPs and troubleshooting procedures.
• Participate in on‑call rotation and provide after‑hours support when required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on Linux system administration experience (RHEL preferred).
• At least 3 years of experience managing VMware vSphere, ESXi and vCenter.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, NFS) and storage systems (SAN/NAS, backup solutions).
• Familiarity with ITIL change‑management processes.
• Excellent analytical, communication and documentation abilities; ability to work independently and within a team.
