Manager, Customer Engineer

About the role

The Manager, Customer Engineer leads a team of customer engineers in Singapore, building strong relationships with clients and ensuring successful delivery of Applied Materials' semiconductor equipment solutions. This role combines people management, technical coordination, and business planning to drive customer satisfaction and financial performance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain customer relationships across all levels in the district.
• Manage, coach, and direct customer engineers, including salary and career planning.
• Serve as the primary interface with Product Divisions such as tech support, training, spares, and reliability.
• Monitor and report on the CSD Award Program and mentor program for new engineers.
• Execute escalation procedures and coordinate with District Sales Engineer for account planning.
• Prepare financial forecasts, manage cost efficiency, and track district financial results.
• Plan and oversee system installations, including pre‑facility and start‑up meetings.
• Manage RMA procedures and ensure accurate tracking of engineer hours.

Required profile

• Strong analytical ability to review data and situation factors for decision‑making.
• Experience recommending and implementing policy changes within a unit or sub‑unit.
• Leadership skills to provide direction, administer policies, and conduct performance appraisals.
• Judgment to act within defined procedures and assess impact of decisions on schedules.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for presenting technical information and gaining cooperation.
