Manufacturing Technician - Cleanroom Equipment Assembly

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions for semiconductors and advanced displays, is hiring a Manufacturing Technician in Singapore. The technician works hands-on in a cleanroom environment to build, repair and test multimillion-dollar display and wafer fabrication equipment, including electrical, electro-mechanical, vacuum and pneumatic assemblies, subassemblies and components.

Key responsibilities

• Build, repair and test assemblies using routine work orders, schematics, wiring diagrams, parts and wire lists, and written or verbal instructions.
• Perform electro-mechanical assembly, troubleshooting and repair, and identify and correct errors.
• Use test fixtures, electronic measurement equipment, leak detectors and vacuum pumps to test assemblies, then complete documentation, perform repairs or install software.
• Receive parts and audit them for availability and defects.
• Enter data on a computer terminal, such as progress, work expense and labour details; may also program computers, repair or write software.
• Follow operating instructions, use protective equipment where required, attend health and safety training and report accidents, injuries or hazards promptly.

Required profile

• NITEC, Higher NITEC or Diploma in any engineering or technical field.
• Candidates with or without experience are welcome to apply.
• Able to develop analytical skills and apply scientific methods, and to solve typical problems independently within established procedures.
• Good communication skills.
• Shifts: Day (7am to 4:30pm), Night (4pm to 1:30am) or Grave (11:30pm to 9am).
• Physically demanding work: prolonged standing, tight spaces, lifting, operating hand and power tools and forklifts; cleanroom PPE such as coveralls, hoods, boots, safety glasses, gloves, respirators and face shields may be required.
