Materials Project Management

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials engineering solutions for display and semiconductor chips, is hiring a Materials Project Management assignee in Singapore. The role covers supply management of outsourced modules and components feeding into Applied tools, and procurement within MRP or a similar demand/supply planning system. Travel is required about 10% of the time.

Key responsibilities

• Supply management: directly manage supply of a key outsourced module/component, provide weekly material health readouts to supply chain executives, host supplier material readiness reviews and manage market share allocations across suppliers and programs
• Manage supplier short shipments until closure, work with suppliers on sub-tier supplier changes (capacity, cost, customer needs) and facilitate stakeholder discussions on issues such as BOM inaccuracies, engineering spec waivers and rework orders
• Facilitate obsolescence transitions from end-of-life material to replacements, and support inventory programs such as consignment, VMI, aged WIP and safety stock
• Procurement: work in MRP or a similar system to procure materials for manufacturing, integration, test or customer spares areas, process purchase requisitions and change orders, and keep suppliers informed on demand forecasts
• Maintain accurate part-level information in MRP (lead times, costs) and BOM prices, and manage ad hoc supplier price variation requests
• Supplier and stakeholder management: quarterly material and build readiness reviews, supplier site visits to follow up on build progress and audit WIP against supplier commitments, and act as first escalation point for supplier Accounts Payable disputes
• Secondary duties include ad hoc RFQs, supporting logistics on receiving variant notices and RVNs, logistics cost optimization (ocean, trucking), and coordinating engineering teams on supplier queries
