Medical Laboratory Technologist - Haematology Lab

About the role

NHG is hiring a Medical Laboratory Technologist for the Haematology Section of the Department of Laboratory Medicine (DLM) at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) and the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID). You will run diagnostic tests on patient specimens and report results according to established protocols, helping clinicians diagnose, treat and monitor disease.

Key responsibilities

• Perform a wide variety of diagnostic tests on patient specimens and report results according to protocol.
• Receive and sort specimens, assess their suitability for testing, enter test requests into the system and reject unsuitable specimens.
• Take part in quality assurance and quality control programmes in the Section.
• Assist in phlebotomy for inpatients and provide on-the-bench training for new staff and attachment students.
• Support initiatives to review and improve processes, and support the Section Leader on operational and administrative matters.
• Perform procedures and tests in specialist outpatient clinics and inpatient wards.

Required profile

• Preferably a Bachelor's degree or above in Laboratory Medicine, Clinical Haematology, Biomedical Sciences, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Technology, Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, Life Sciences or an equivalent qualification.
• Diploma holders in Biomedical Sciences, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Technology, Biotechnology, Life Sciences or equivalents may be considered for the Junior Medical Technologist position.
• Able to work 3-rotating shifts, including staggered and extended hours, and cover after-hours, weekends and public holidays.
