Operations Manager - 12-Hour Night Shift

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions for semiconductors and advanced displays, is hiring an Operations Manager in Singapore. The role covers production and operation functions such as assembly, inspection, test and final test of capital equipment and components, and runs on a permanent 12-hour night shift.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise staff in production and operation functions related to the manufacture of capital equipment and systems.
• Prioritize production schedules based on manpower, equipment efficiency, capacity and material requirements.
• Take part in operational meetings, track performance metrics, schedule milestone meetings and improve cycle time.
• Respond quickly to operations issues affecting customer satisfaction, ensure customer and vendor requirements are met, and initiate corrective action on quality costs.
• Prevent accidents and injuries, ensure all employees (including temporary ones) receive EHS training, and enforce safety policies.
• Develop people through training and career development, manage performance goals, and oversee hiring, rewards and discipline.
• Plan for maximum production capacity, monitor manufacturing data and report real-time status, and drive Lean, safety and quality improvements.

Required profile

• Formal supervisory responsibilities, setting priorities and coaching employees to meet daily deadlines.
• Ability to solve day-to-day technical and operational problems and to influence team quality, efficiency and effectiveness.
• Understanding of Applied Materials' global Standards of Business Conduct and compliance with them.
• Physical demands: prolonged standing, walking, working in tight spaces, lifting, and possibly working in a clean room with PPE such as coveralls, hoods, boots, safety glasses, gloves, respirators and face shields.
