Optimization Planner (New College Graduate)

About the role

The Optimization Planner role is an entry‑level position for recent graduates to support data‑driven decision making in Applied Materials’ semiconductor manufacturing operations. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to analyze business requirements, develop optimal solutions, and implement them using advanced analytics and SAP systems.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze business requirements, convert them to functional and technical specifications, and evaluate cross‑functional solutions for complex needs.
• Perform big data analysis, derive actionable insights, and drive production implementation in collaboration with multiple business functions.
• Propose optimal approaches with thorough impact quantification while reviewing business requirements.
• Solve complex problems, bring fresh perspectives to existing solutions, and exercise judgment based on multiple information sources.
• Define effective control mechanisms to capture process anomalies and gaps using advanced analytics.
• Gain hands‑on experience, acquire professional skills, and be mentored by senior team members.
• Work with SAP and other internal organizational information systems.

Required profile

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering.
• 0‑1 years of experience in relevant fields.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, and SQL.
• Ability to gain cooperation of others, collaborate and lead complex interfaces without formal authority.
• Capability to work under pressure, prioritize multiple tasks in parallel, and manage timelines independently.
• Strong analytical skills with quick, critical thinking.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for leading and collaborating across complex stakeholder groups.
• Strong communication and presentation skills to convey key messages effectively.
• Ability to manage long‑term projects while maintaining high‑quality daily execution.
