Part-Time Lecturer – Narratives for Interaction

About the role

The School of Art, Design, and Media at Nanyang Technological University seeks a part‑time lecturer to teach the undergraduate course DM2006 Narratives for Interaction starting January 2027. The role involves introducing students to core concepts of narrativity and interaction across digital and analogue media, and guiding them through a hands‑on project that results in an interactive narrative artefact of their choice.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver weekly lectures and tutorials covering theories of interaction, narrative structures, and case studies of games, interactive stories, and installations.
• Design and assess coursework, including practical project milestones, prototypes, demos, and final productions.
• Provide individual feedback and mentorship as students develop interactive narrative projects such as websites, games, performances or soundscapes.
• Collaborate with faculty to update course materials and ensure alignment with the broader curriculum.

Required profile

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Interactive Media, Digital Media, Game Design, Media Arts, Film and Media Studies, Creative Writing for New Media, or a closely related discipline.
• Prior experience teaching undergraduate students is preferred; candidates with a Bachelor’s degree and substantial industry experience in interactive narrative, games or digital storytelling may be considered in exceptional cases.
• Demonstrated ability to guide self‑directed learning and to evaluate creative, interdisciplinary work.
