Pharmacy Assistant (Temp to Contract)

About the role

NHG is recruiting a Pharmacy Assistant through its Pharmacy Assistant to Pharmacy Technician scheme, which helps people including mid-career switchers move toward a career as a Pharmacy Technician. The position is patient-facing and involves both frontline patient care and backend prescription handling. It starts as an 8-week hourly-rated contract, subject to performance, and may lead to a 1-year renewable contract.

Key responsibilities

• Attend to phone and walk-in enquiries from patients and next-of-kin
• Provide financial counselling on government schemes, subsidies and insurance
• Carry out medication supply verification for patients at assigned clinics
• Pick, pack and label prescriptions quickly and accurately, and re-label and print summary labels
• File and count prescriptions and manage drug stock and inventory, including buffer stock, near-expiry checks and receiving goods from store
• Detect prescription errors and clarify or correct them with the prescriber
• Perform ad hoc duties as needed

Required profile

• Minimum 3 GCE "O" level credits in English, Mathematics and Science, or NITEC/Diploma holder in any discipline
• 2 years of work experience preferred (healthcare-related experience is an advantage)
• Candidates holding the CPTC certificate can apply directly as a Pharmacy Technician
• Team player with excellent interpersonal skills, independent and meticulous
• Able to multi-task and adapt in a fast-paced environment; mid-career switchers are welcome

• Office hours Monday to Friday, half days on Saturdays, with possible Sunday and public holiday rostering
