Policy Communications Manager

About the role

The Policy Communications Manager will lead strategic communication initiatives that shape public narratives around policy and organisational priorities. This role is responsible for developing communication strategies, monitoring media sentiment, and engaging stakeholders to mitigate reputational risks.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute communication plans for policy initiatives and corporate priorities.
• Translate complex policy and regulatory topics into clear, audience‑specific narratives.
• Conduct media monitoring, sentiment analysis and trend assessments to spot emerging risks and opportunities.
• Provide insights and recommendations based on media coverage and public sentiment.
• Partner with business leaders to position communications and manage issues.
• Support media engagements, stakeholder communications and crisis or sensitive issue management.
• Prepare communication materials such as key messages, press releases, speeches and briefing documents.

Required profile

• Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Policy, Public Relations or a related field.
• 6–10 years of experience in policy communications, strategic communications, public affairs or corporate communications.
• Proven ability to simplify complex policy or regulatory topics.
• Experience handling sensitive or high‑profile issues in highly scrutinised environments.
• Backgrounds in economic agencies, statutory boards, government agencies, regulated industries or journalism are advantageous.
