Principal Kubernetes Control Plane Engineer

About the role

Bitdeer is looking for a Principal Kubernetes Control Plane Engineer to lead the design and implementation of highly scalable, secure control plane architectures that power its AI cloud and Bitcoin mining platforms. You will work closely with AI scheduling, fabric, and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless integration across multi‑region clusters.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable control‑plane architectures using Cluster API for fleet‑wide automation.
• Develop custom Kubernetes Operators and Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs) to streamline lifecycle management.
• Optimize etcd performance and ensure robust state management across distributed cloud regions.
• Implement secure multi‑tenant isolation at the API server layer.
• Architect zero‑downtime upgrade processes and multi‑cluster federation solutions.
• Collaborate with AI scheduling and GPU orchestration teams to integrate control‑plane services.
• Lead design reviews, mentor engineers, and enforce best practices for distributed systems.
• Identify and mitigate failure modes to improve platform reliability for training and inference workloads.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience with deep expertise in Go.
• Extensive contributions to the Kubernetes ecosystem (Operators, API Server, etcd, Cluster API).
• Proven experience operating, debugging, and scaling large‑scale distributed systems in production.
• Strong technical leadership and communication skills.
