Principal / Senior / Executive Software Engineer, Systems
sggovterp · Singapore
Job description
About the role
The Land Transport Authority's Centre for Autonomous Mobility (CAM) is building the digital tools behind Singapore's national effort to deploy autonomous vehicles safely at scale. The Systems team develops products such as a monitoring system that collects and analyses AV operational data to support regulatory and safety assurance work. This role is open at three levels, with a core set of responsibilities for all hires and additional ownership and leadership expectations for more senior candidates.
Key responsibilities
- Design and build production-quality digital products end to end, from understanding problem statements and architecting systems on cloud infrastructure to deployment and ongoing maintenance.
- Build safety-assurance products: analytics, dashboards and visualisations, enforcement and performance tracking, event management and data-anomaly alerts.
- Work in a cross-functional CAM team to identify bottlenecks in deployment velocity and propose products that advance safe AV deployments, including non-passenger vehicles and AVs on public paths.
- Evolve products for scale, strengthening data pipelines and system observability for high-volume telemetry and potentially integrating with other LTA enterprise platforms.
- Monitor and support production systems and help respond to incidents.
- Apply AI, ML and data analytics, including anomaly detection, operational intelligence and tools for deployment planning.
- Senior hires lead technical discussions, establish testing, CI/CD and code-quality practices, mentor engineers and support recruitment.
Required profile
- Knowledge preferably in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
- End-to-end software building across the stack, with maintainable data models.
- Clear thinking about systems such as data pipelines, APIs, data integrity, authentication, scale and reliability.
- Good communication with engineers and stakeholders, and a sense of the public good.
- Useful but not essential: data-intensive systems, dashboards and visualisation, UI/UX sensibility, and interest in autonomous vehicles, transport planning, generative AI or safety-critical systems.
Required skills
- Core competency in at least one programming language and ability to learn; the team is generally language-agnostic.
- Commonly used stack: JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, React, cloud services, relational databases (SQLite and Postgres).
- Plus: infrastructure-as-code (e.g. Terraform), CI/CD pipelines, Agile delivery, and geospatial data.
