Process Support Engineer (CMP)

About the role

Applied Materials is hiring a Process Support Engineer (CMP) based in Singapore. The engineer guides products through their lifecycle, from concept to final qualification, and provides high-visibility customer support through on-site installations, system diagnoses and the service and repair of complex equipment. The role works closely with customers and R&D teams to develop processes for manufacturing advanced semiconductor chips, including hypothesis experiments, design of experiments (DOEs) and root cause analysis. It covers technologies such as Chemical Vapor Deposition, Atomic Layer Deposition, Plasma Reactive Ion Etch, Physical Vapor Deposition, Anneal and Implant.

Key responsibilities

• Provide customer support through on-site installations, system diagnoses and service and repair of complex systems and equipment.
• Develop leading-edge processes for manufacturing advanced semiconductor chips with the customer.
• Create hypothesis experiments and design of experiments (DOE), analyse data with statistics and compile reports with high-level conclusions.
• Troubleshoot complex problems, perform root cause analyses and resolve process engineering and customer product issues.
• Communicate with internal stakeholders and the customer to build relationships and trust.
• Serve as a resource for junior colleagues and a liaison between the customer and the business unit, and may lead small projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry, physics, materials engineering, electrical engineering, optoelectronics or a related field.
• 4-7 years of experience in the semiconductor process, preferably in CMP.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to explain sensitive information and build consensus among stakeholders.
• Able to work closely with the customer at the customer's site or cleanroom daily.
