Product Design Engineer

About the role

Volex is seeking a Product Design Engineer to join its Singapore site. Reporting to the Product Engineering/Product Safety Director, you will lead the end‑to‑end development of next‑generation interconnect solutions for consumer electronics and domestic appliances.

Key responsibilities

• Lead product design from concept generation through production release.
• Conduct detailed design reviews, feasibility studies and engineering analyses.
• Drive design discussions with customers, gather technical requirements and present updates.
• Oversee prototype builds, sample trials and functional testing.
• Troubleshoot design and manufacturing issues, applying root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Apply FMEA and DOE to optimise reliability and manufacturability.
• Manage multiple projects against specifications, cost targets and timelines.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with tooling, process and manufacturing teams on injection moulding and high‑speed stamping.
• Ensure high cosmetic standards and functional performance for engineering plastics and metal contacts.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of product development experience in engineering, electronics or high‑tech industries.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams and deliver projects on time.
