Production Operator – Coating

About the role

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Production Operator – Coating will handle color matching, formulation adjustments and quality testing of coating products to meet customer and quality standards. The role also supports production and color management activities while maintaining global color standards.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and adjust formulae using a spectrophotometer or color‑match techniques, blend, spray and correct colors as needed.
• Scale up approved formulae for production batches and conduct tests on activators, solvents and other QC requirements.
• Participate in the Color Management Action Group (CMAG) and manage global color standards such as BMS and Federal copies.
• Serve as the focal point for ASC South East Asia, acting as the contact for the “on color” software and regional color key.
• Perform preventive maintenance, maintain calibration logs for lab equipment and uphold a 5S housekeeping program.

Required profile

• Knowledge of PPG EHS policies and adherence to safety procedures.
• Understanding of color development processes, ability to interpret product formulae and accurately blend them.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to liaise with production supervisors.
• Self‑motivated, self‑starting attitude with attention to detail.

Required skills

• Proficiency with a color spectrophotometer and related color‑matching techniques.
• Experience operating laboratory equipment and maintaining calibration records.
