Project Engineer – Permanent Structural Steel

About the role

The Project Engineer will support the Project Manager in delivering permanent structural steel works from fabrication through to site installation. This role involves close coordination with design, fabrication, QA/QC, procurement and site teams to ensure all activities meet project specifications and schedules.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning, coordinating and monitoring steel fabrication and erection activities.
• Review contract, structural and shop drawings, specifications and method statements for compliance.
• Maintain project schedules, material tracking lists and progress updates.
• Monitor on‑site steel works, including fit‑up, welding, bolting, alignment and dimensional checks.
• Plan and coordinate site logistics such as manpower, lifting arrangements, cranes and equipment.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants and suppliers to resolve technical and coordination issues.
• Raise and follow up on RFIs, drawing and material submissions.
• Coordinate inspections, maintain quality documentation and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Prepare and submit method statements, risk assessments, daily reports and as‑built information.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in structural steel fabrication, erection or related construction projects.
• Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and specifications.
