Project Officer – Multi-Channel Single Photon Detector & Readout

About the role

The Centre for Disruptive Photonic Technologies at Nanyang Technological University is seeking a Project Officer to advance single‑photon imaging and LiDAR systems based on superconducting nanowire single‑photon detectors (SNSPDs). You will work in a cutting‑edge laboratory, supporting multi‑channel detector measurements, readout development, and system optimisation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain multi‑channel and multi‑array SNSPD measurement setups.
• Design, assemble, and test readout circuitry, amplifiers, and filters.
• Characterise noise performance, optimise grounding and shielding, and evaluate filtering strategies.
• Assist with detector mounting, wire bonding, cryostat interconnects, and basic SNSPD fabrication under supervision.
• Operate and maintain optical, cryogenic, and optoelectronic equipment including lasers, photodiodes, oscilloscopes, VNAs, and LiDAR test rigs.
• Support data acquisition, pulse analysis, timing extraction, and software scaling for multi‑channel operation.

Required profile

• Background in physics, electrical engineering, or a related discipline.
• Hands‑on experience with cryogenic or low‑temperature measurement systems.
• Ability to work safely in a laboratory environment and follow detailed experimental protocols.
