Research Assistant (Office for Research) - RaDiX Project

About the role

The National Institute of Education (NIE) is looking for a Research Assistant on a 12-month contract within its Office for Research. The project, titled RaDiX, uses the Science of Learning and Movement Science to study creativity in children and young adults: how creative behaviour can be identified and what long-term effects a creative environment has on fundamental movement skills. Participants perform motor tasks while researchers collect multimodal data such as movement and brain imaging.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit participants and schedule data collection
• Assist with data collection using a video camera and a 3D motion capture system
• Enter and organise data
• Analyse data with specialised software (R, JASP, Python, Matlab)
• Prepare reports, conference presentations and drafts for journal publications
• Support general maintenance and activities of the NIE Motor Behavior Lab
• Carry out other duties assigned by the Principal Investigator

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in sport science or a related scientific discipline (e.g. neuroscience, computer science)
• Good knowledge of movement analysis techniques and brain imaging data acquisition (e.g. fNIRS, EEG)
• Experience conducting experimental research on human participants
• Excellent oral and written communication
• Strong ability to manage large multi-source data sets
