Research Assistant – Paleoseismology & Levelling Data

About the role

Join a multidisciplinary team at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, to support cutting‑edge research in paleoseismology, neotectonics, and levelling data investigation. The role involves field, laboratory, and data analysis activities aimed at understanding past fault movements and crustal deformation.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse geological data and digital terrain models to refine fault locations and support trench investigations.
• Conduct field work including trench excavation, surveying, sample collection, and documentation.
• Process and catalogue geological samples for sedimentological and geochronological analysis.
• Compile, digitise, and quality‑control historical levelling datasets and integrate them with InSAR and GNSS observations.
• Support data management, prepare technical reports, and contribute to research meetings.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in geology, geoscience, Earth science, geophysics, geodesy or a related field.
• Strong field experience and familiarity with geological documentation practices.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team under demanding conditions.
• Entry‑level candidates are welcome if they demonstrate the required technical background.

Required skills

• Proficiency with GIS and mapping software.
• Experience in MATLAB and/or Python programming for data analysis.
• Knowledge of sedimentology, stratigraphy, and geomorphology.
• Familiarity with structure‑from‑motion or related geospatial tools is a plus.
