Research Associate (AI, Technology and Law)

About the role

The Global Institute of Finance, Technology and Society (GIFTS) at Nanyang Business School, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, is looking for a Research Associate to support a project on scam resilience. The role covers interdisciplinary areas such as AI, law, cybercrime and deepfakes, and involves both research and administrative work.

Key responsibilities

• Provide end-to-end coordination and operational leadership for the GIFTS research grant, including education, engagement and institutional development activities
• Work with PIs, the Institute Director, faculty, researchers, staff and external partners to turn strategic priorities into managed projects and events
• Carry out research on AI/deepfake scams, related laws and legal frameworks including finance and cybercrime laws
• Coordinate project execution, communication between collaborators, and work with PIs and Co-PIs on data collection, scam pattern analysis, experimental design and simulations
• Procure consumables, research equipment and resources such as GPU time
• Manage the project workplan, governance, meetings, records, procurement, contracts, resource allocation and administrative workflows per NTU requirements
• Support grant applications, working groups and collaborations, and plan conferences, roundtables, seminars, workshops, visiting appointments and other knowledge-exchange activities
• Prepare proposals, partnership agreements, sponsorship packages and briefing materials, and track commitments from collaborations
• Coordinate website content, newsletters, reports, presentations and publicity
• Track budgets, expenditure, funding commitments and KPIs, prepare management reports and flag delivery risks

Required profile

• Master's degree in law or a related field
• Familiarity with legal, regulatory and policy frameworks
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work independently, with attention to detail and strong organisational and time management skills
• Ability to collaborate in a fast-paced environment
