Research Associate (Bioinformatics and Cancer Genomics)

About the role

We are looking for a Research Associate to support bioinformatics research, focusing on cancer genomics and cancer screening at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. The role involves analysing genomic and clinical data and developing cancer survival prediction models.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse and interpret cancer genomic and associated clinical data using bioinformatics and statistical methods.
• Perform data cleaning, quality control, integration, and maintain reproducible analysis scripts and records.
• Assist in developing and evaluating survival prediction models for breast cancer research.
• Provide day‑to‑day bioinformatics support to a PhD student, including analyses and figures for thesis completion and defence.
• Collaborate with the research team to prepare grant proposals, figures, reports and manuscripts, and communicate findings.

Required profile

• Masters or equivalent degree in Bioinformatics, Data Science, Computational Biology, Genomics, Biostatistics or related field.
• Experience in bioinformatics or genomic data analysis through coursework, research projects or employment.
• Familiarity with cancer genomics and statistical methods.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with strong organisational and time‑management skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in R or Python for data analysis and visualisation.
