Research Associate (Communication Studies/Psychology/Social Sciences/Education)

About the role

The Asian Centre for Health Behavioural Insights & Interventions (HABITS) at Nanyang Technological University is seeking a Research Associate to support the planning, execution and dissemination of multidisciplinary research projects. The role works closely with Pillar Leads and Directors to manage project operations and contribute to competitive grant applications.

Key responsibilities

• Support planning, coordination and day‑to‑day management of research projects to meet milestones.
• Assist in preparing competitive research grant applications, including literature reviews, proposal writing and budgeting.
• Coordinate participant recruitment, scheduling, data collection and study implementation across multiple projects.
• Prepare and manage ethics applications, regulatory submissions and study documentation ensuring compliance.
• Maintain research databases, secure data storage and accurate study records.
• Conduct quantitative and/or qualitative data analysis using appropriate statistical software.
• Prepare research reports, manuscripts, conference abstracts and other scholarly outputs.
• Oversee project logistics such as procurement, budgeting, financial tracking and vendor management.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders including schools, government agencies and community partners.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Communication Studies, Psychology, Education, Social Sciences or a related discipline.
• Knowledge of quantitative and/or qualitative research methodologies, including experimental and survey design, focus groups and associated analysis.
• Prior experience coordinating or managing academic or applied research projects.
• Familiarity with research involving adolescents, digital wellbeing, health, schools or community‑based interventions is an advantage.
• Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills for collaboration with schools, government agencies, healthcare organisations and community partners.
