Research Associate (Microplastics and Health)

About the role

The Centre for Climate Change and Environmental Health (CCEH) at NTU is looking for a Research Associate to develop and apply advanced modelling and analytical frameworks investigating the health impacts of microplastics. The role integrates environmental monitoring data with exposure assessment models, simulates microplastic fate and transport across air, water, soil and food systems, and quantifies potential human exposure under different environmental and policy scenarios. It also covers assessing associated health risks, preparing reports for stakeholders and publishing findings in peer-reviewed international journals.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and apply models of microplastic fate, transport and human exposure across multiple environmental media
• Integrate environmental monitoring and laboratory datasets with exposure and risk assessment frameworks
• Analyze and interpret model outputs to provide evidence-based insights for environmental health and policy
• Assess associated health risks and prepare reports for stakeholders
• Publish findings in peer-reviewed international journals

Required profile

• Master's degree in atmospheric science, geography, meteorology, environmental health or a related field
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Candidates with recent publications in relevant areas within the past 5 years are advantageous; entry-level candidates are welcome to apply
