Research Associate – Simulation & Security for Drone Protocols

About the role

NTU Singapore is seeking a motivated Research Associate to design and implement simulation environments, intelligent testing frameworks, and automated security evaluation tools for drone communication protocols. The role involves experimental studies, technical documentation, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary research team.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain simulation and testing environments for drone communication protocols.
• Design intelligent frameworks for protocol fuzz testing and security evaluation.
• Create traffic analysis methods for anomaly detection, behavior classification, and attack inference.
• Conduct experiments to assess protocol robustness, security, and resilience under adversarial conditions.
• Automate validation of identified vulnerabilities and evaluate potential attack scenarios.
• Analyze experimental results and refine frameworks and methodologies.
• Develop LLM‑based agentic frameworks for generating diverse fuzzing inputs.
• Prepare technical documentation, project reports, research publications, and presentations.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence or a related discipline.
• Relevant experience in software development, cybersecurity, network protocols, or AI‑related research.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research team.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and technical documentation skills.

Required skills

• Programming in Python, C or C++.
• Linux‑based development environments, debugging and testing tools.
• Knowledge of network communication, protocol analysis, vulnerability assessment, and traffic analysis.
• Experience with machine learning, large language models, and automated testing.
