Research & Development (R&D) Specialist – PhD Chemistry

About the role

We are seeking a senior Research & Development Specialist with a PhD in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering to lead the development and optimisation of waste treatment and resource recovery processes across Singapore.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, evaluate, and optimise treatment and handling processes for existing, new and unknown waste streams, ensuring technical feasibility and cost‑effectiveness.
• Design and implement resource‑recovery processes to enhance sustainability and create value from waste streams.
• Collaborate closely with sales and marketing to understand waste sources, identify new treatment opportunities and provide technical support for commercialisation.
• Identify, assess and implement new technologies, working with external partners such as universities and research institutes.
• Establish and continuously improve laboratory capabilities, including process development and analytical methods.
• Drive continuous improvement of operations through process optimisation and alternative treatment methods.
• Ensure compliance with internal procedures, documentation standards and all safety, health and environmental requirements.
• Support the development of handling procedures for high‑risk and high‑value waste streams.
• Contribute to new business development, facility planning and project support.
• Stay updated on industry trends and introduce relevant innovations.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in specialty chemical manufacturing, oil & gas or water‑treatment industries.
• Result‑oriented with the ability to achieve targets individually and as part of a team.

• Basic salary SGD 5,000 – 5,500 per month plus variable bonus.
