Research Engineer – Porous Materials

About the role

The National University of Singapore is seeking a Research Engineer to advance the development of porous materials for carbon dioxide capture and heavy‑metal separation. This entry‑level position offers the opportunity to work on cutting‑edge research within a collaborative laboratory environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, synthesize, and optimise organic porous materials targeting CO₂ and heavy‑metal adsorption.
• Develop synthetic strategies to tailor pore structure, chemical functionality, and host‑guest interactions.
• Conduct comprehensive material characterisation to determine structural, chemical, and morphological properties.
• Evaluate adsorption and separation performance and analyse results to establish structure‑property‑performance relationships.
• Prepare technical reports, research summaries, presentation materials, and manuscript data.
• Support laboratory operations, including experimental planning, instrument operation, data management, and safety compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering or a related field.
• Some experience in materials synthesis and characterisation.
• Experience in separation engineering is a plus.
