Research Fellow – Computational Social Science & Media Analysis

About the role

The Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information at NTU, in partnership with the Earth Observatory of Singapore, seeks a Research Fellow to contribute to the Climate Transformation Program’s Sustainable Societies theme. The role focuses on analysing online public discourse to inform climate‑change communication strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct literature reviews and support manuscript development.
• Collect and analyse large‑scale online discourse data using sentiment and content analysis.
• Apply statistical and computational techniques to textual datasets.
• Co‑author peer‑reviewed journal articles and present at conferences.
• Prepare progress reports and final research outputs.
• Disseminate findings to academic and public audiences.
• Assist with project coordination and administrative tasks as needed.

Required profile

• PhD in Communication, Media Studies, Computational Social Science, Information Science, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated expertise in sentiment analysis, opinion mining, or computational analysis of media and public discourse.
• Ability to link computational methods with communication theory.
