Research Fellow – Cryptography & Machine Learning Interpretability

About the role

The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore is seeking a Research Fellow to contribute to the NRF Investigatorship project “Interpretable and Automated Cryptanalysis for Tailor-Made Cryptographic Design”. The role focuses on advancing research in cryptography and/or machine learning interpretability.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct independent research on cryptographic methods and/or machine‑learning interpretability techniques.
• Prepare technical reports and presentation materials for the project stakeholders.
• Publish research findings in relevant conferences and peer‑reviewed journals.

Required profile

• PhD in Mathematics, Electronics, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a research team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in symmetric cryptanalysis/design or state‑of‑the‑art explainable AI solutions is a strong plus.
