About the role

The School of Social Sciences at NTU is seeking a Research Fellow to develop robust instrumental variable estimation methods and machine‑learning algorithms for weak instruments, high‑dimensional settings, and clustered data.

Key responsibilities

Develop econometric theory for weak‑identification‑robust tests, bootstrap methods, estimator combinations, and leave‑cluster‑out bias correction.
Implement simulations and conduct empirical analyses on topics such as import competition, education, and pre‑trial decisions using IV regressions.
Prepare reproducible code, research papers, technical appendices, and presentations in collaboration with the project team.

Required profile

PhD in Economics, Econometrics, Statistics, or a closely related field by the start date.
Strong background in econometric theory, probability, statistics, and causal inference.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills; prior postdoctoral experience is desirable.

Required skills

Proficiency in R.
Proficiency in Python.
Proficiency in MATLAB.
Proficiency in Julia.
